1.Introduction
Established in 2004, the Department of Financial Engineering at USTB combines modern finance with the University’s strengths in engineering and technology. Its 17 faculty members include four professors and six associate professors. The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in financial engineering and general finance. Its undergraduate Financial Engineering program, selected for Beijing’s First-Class Undergraduate Program Development Initiative, equips students with a global outlook, innovative thinking, and interdisciplinary analytical skills. The professional Master of Finance program emphasizes independent analysis and creative problem solving, with three specializations: fintech and digital finance; financial investment and technological innovation; and green finance and sustainable development. The Department’s research spans asset pricing,portfolio optimization, investment management, corporate finance, fintech, risk management, and sustainable finance. Supported by internationally educated faculty and the School’s research platforms, its programs prepare graduates for careers in financial institutions, fintech companies, government agencies, and other organizations, particularly in investment, wealth management, quantitative analysis, financial data analysis, risk management, and innovative financial product development.
